How We Protect Your Data
Learn how Umami Digital keeps your account, cookbook, and payments private and secure.
Your data stays yours
Umami Digital is built so that each account can only see its own information. This is enforced by the backend, not just by the app's screens, so it applies no matter how you access your account.
What stays private to you
- Your cookbook of saved recipes.
- Your Cooking Diary, including dates, photos, ratings, and notes.
- Any private recipes you've created.
- Your notifications, including your unread count and notification history.
No other account can view these, because the backend checks that a request for your data actually comes from you before returning it.
How payments are protected
When you upgrade to Premium, payment is handled through Stripe checkout, a secure third-party payment processor. Your card details are entered directly into Stripe's checkout and never pass through or get stored by Umami Digital itself.
Changing your password
If you want to change your password, use the password reset by email option on the sign-in page. This sends a secure reset link to your email so you can set a new password without needing to remember the old one.
Deleting your data
If you'd like your account data deleted, contact support through /contact and explain what you'd like removed. Support will handle these requests on your behalf, since account deletion isn't a self-service option in the app.
Tips
- Use a strong, unique password for your Umami Digital account.
- Reset your password promptly if you ever suspect someone else knows it.
- Contact support directly for any request involving your personal data, rather than trying to work around it in the app.
